For the Crow family, the year of 2026, and particularly the summer, was a very momentous time. To begin the summer, our daughter Abigail married Trey Manns in our home church in Mississippi. All the decorating fell to Sarah with what help the men in the family could be. The ceremony was everything wedding should be: Christ-honoring, Scripture-based, Gospel-giving, and short. Trey and Abigail now live in Wisconsin where Trey serves as an assistant pastor.
Not too long after the wedding was over, Sarah and I packed up our trailer and headed to the Inter-mountain West for several weeks of camp ministry. The schedule was as follows: minister in camp from Monday through Friday and then come out on the weekends to minister in different local churches. God worked in those weeks of camp and in the churches as well.
One interesting dynamic of camp was that there was no cell service anywhere on the property. In order to check messages, it was necessary to drive about 3 miles toward town. There is something very peaceful about such an existence. It reminded me of a day when a caller had to leave a message that would not be received until the callee's work was done. Maybe having instant access to everyone all the time isn't always good.
The camp happened to be located on one of the best trout streams in all of America, some might say the world. As a southerner, I knew nothing about trout fishing before this year, but I learned while I was at camp. There is nothing like fresh trout caught out of cold water.
As the summer drew to a close, we took our last child to college and dropped him off. He is now a freshman at Ambassador Baptist College studying missions.
Also new to our family dynamic is Esther's new job. She still lives at home and is now the kindergarten teacher in our Christian school in Southaven, MS.
After the Labor Day holiday is behind us, Sarah and I will hit the road once again in meetings. Most of this year's fall meetings are on the east coast, and we look forward to seeing what the Lord does in the various churches.
